Celebrating 30 Years of Woody's Wood-Fired Pizza

When Woody's Wood-Fired Pizza opened its doors in the heart of Golden 30 years ago, no one could have predicted the incredible journey that awaited. Over the years, we've become an integral part of the Golden community, serving up mouthwatering wood-fired pizzas and creating cherished memories. On September 10th, we marked our 30th anniversary with a beach party extravaganza, a celebration like no other. How? With a beach party, of course!

The Beach Party in a Parking Lot

In the heart of Golden, we turned our side parking lot into a sandy paradise. Dump trucks full of sand arrived, and soon, the pavement was transformed into a beachfront. Kids built sandcastles, and we felt the sand between their toes. It was our way of bringing a taste of the beach to the Rocky Mountains.

Beach Vibes and Refreshing Drinks

To set the mood, we encouraged everyone to embrace their inner beach bum. We set up a tiki bar, where people indulged in our homemade margaritas, perfect for the Colorado weather. Our friends from New Terrain Brewing Co. joined the party, providing a selection of craft beers that paired perfectly with our wood-fired creations.

Rooftop Music

Live music is the heartbeat of any beach party, and we spared no expense. We brought in incredibly talented local musicians who played on the rooftop of our restaurant all day long. Their tunes set the perfect beachside atmosphere and filled the air with rhythms that kept everyone's spirits high.

For The Kiddos: Pizza Beast Food Truck, Bounce House Fun and Arcade Bus

Kids had a blast at the Pizza Beast food truck, where they became pizza artists for the day. From rolling out the dough to choosing their favorite toppings, it was an interactive experience that left kids with smiles and parents with photo-worthy memories.

Children couldn't get enough of the inflatable bounce house with a slide. Laughter and excitement filled the air as they bounced and slid their way through the day. But we didn't stop there – we brought in an arcade bus filled with classic games like Space Invaders, Pac-Man, and Mortal Kombat. It was a hit with the young and the young at heart.

Wood-Fired Pizza Galore

Our to-go kitchen worked tirelessly, churning out our famous wood-fired pizzas for everyone to enjoy outdoors. The aroma of fresh pizza was irresistible, and it drew people from all over Golden to join the celebration.

Delicious Treats and Community Support

Local companies and organizations added to the celebration's charm. Gnarly Mountain brought mouth-watering cookies that left a sweet taste in everyone's mouth, while Golden High School organized a bake sale for their fundraiser, showing the strong community spirit that makes Golden special.

A Memorable Birthday and Woody's History

This celebration wasn't just about Woody's turning 30. It was also Bart Bortles' birthday, the original owner of the restaurant. Bart, alongside his son Jon, shared the inspiring history of Woody's. Bart's journey began with restaurant endeavors in Moab, Utah, followed by a time in Boulder where he helped develop the Boulderado Hotel. His move to Golden led to the creation of Woody's, and over the years, Bart had seven Woody's locations. While he sold his other ventures, he held onto his prized location in Golden. Woody's became the best-kept secret in town.

A Celebration of Community

Seeing the community come together to laugh and celebrate the last warm days of summer was truly remarkable. Our 30-year anniversary beach party wasn't just a milestone for Woody's; it was a testament to the incredible bond we share with the Golden community. As a business, we're grateful for every customer who's walked through our doors, and we're excited for the future, as we continue to serve the best wood-fired pizza in town. Here's to more years of delicious memories and unforgettable moments!
